A week for the entire family to experience the wonder of music and the creative
arts rooted in the Christian faith.
“I will sing unto the Lord for He has triumphed gloriously, the horse and rider
thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God and I will exalt him.”
Exodus 15:1-2
Each morning the adults will study the books of Exodus
through Kings with Craig Koester, a professor of New
Testament at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Following
this will be a choir rehearsal for all adults led by Milt
Scott, an experienced choral director and clinician from
Decatur, IL.
The high school choir (ages 15-18) will be singin' and
swingin' during their rehearsals under the direction of
Rolf Anderson. Rolf is from Tower, MN where he retired
after many years of teaching vocal music.
The youth choir (ages 9-14) will laugh and sing
with Rikka Estenson, a private voice instructor and
children’s choir director from Rockford, MN. This choir
is accompanied by Kay Hoffland, Mount Carmel’s
musician in residence.
Each morning the junior choir (ages 6-8) will sing and
learn with Calvary Lutheran's children’s choir director
Theresa Nysetvold of Alexandria, MN.
The youngest of singers (ages 3-5) will enjoy
the Musikgarten program each morning with
Bonnie Wasberg from Marshall, MN where she
is a Musikgarten instructor.
After lunch, there will be a string ensemble
for all ages with Jane Schuneman.
There is time for recreation in Lake Carlos or
at the waterfront including sand volleyball,
tennis, sauna and basketball. The soccer field
is also a popular place.
In the late afternoon these workshops will be offered:
Oil and Pastel Painting with Jean Ranstrom
Fiction Writing with Bill Kennedy
Bread Baking with Roger Apodaca
World Drumming with Dale Lammi
Choir Chimes with Milt Scott
Sacred Dance with Mary Coats
Voice Lessons with Rolf Anderson & Rikka Estenson
During our evening worship Nancy Koester will preach
on the Songs of Freedom throughout time from Africa
to South America to the United States. Following
worship the canteen is a great place to get a snack
before the late night activity begins – the talent show,
classical recital, a movie, or a surprise event!
The week concludes with a festive concert on Friday
June 29 at 1:00 pm.
