Understanding the Dynamics of Healing Guilt and Shame
Within each of us there is a Peter; one who tries to
walk on water in life’s storms and fearfully sinks.
We find our hollowness as we try to please others
and swing from angrily boasting (“I will follow you
even if no one else does!”) to shamefully lying to
the servant girl ("I don’t even know the man!”).
We get discouraged as we fish all night and catch
nothing. We struggle with how to repair broken
relationships and to again say, “You know that I
love you.”
Men and women in their second half of life need
to make Peter’s journey. When we discover the
Peter within us, we will experience how Jesus
heals our fear, anger, guilt, shame, and grief to
transform us from “Simon” the broken person to
“Peter” the rock, the most gifted disciple.
This short retreat will bring opportunity for
understanding these areas of need and the healing
offered to us. In addition to the sessions, Spiritual
Direction, Massage, and Christian Healing Touch
will be available to participants. There are also
recreational experiences awaiting you on beautiful
Lake Carlos as well as delicious meals, a place
for rest and reflection, and meeting new friends.
