    continuing education.
  • Singing to the GLORY of God and giving
THANKS for God’s gift of music.

Guest Clinician: Dwight Jilek

Dwight Jilek is the Director of Choral Activities at Bemidji State University, and conducts the Bemidji Choir, Chamber Singers, Damenstimmen Women’s Chorus, and Musikanten Men’s Chorus. He also teaches conducting, choral literature, and choral arranging.

Dwight received his doctoral degree in Choral Conducting at the University of North Texas. He attended Michigan State for his Master’s Degree and received a Bachelor of Music Degree from Concordia College in Moorhead. Dr. Jilek has experience teaching high school students and has directed church choirs.

Since 2006 the Cantabile workshop has appreciated the beautiful setting and facilities at Mount Carmel. Rolf Anderson, Kay Hoffland, and Rikka Estenson are the clinicians for this weekend. Participants sing music for mixed choirs, children’s choirs, men’s choirs, and women’s choirs. The schedule allows for some time to relax and share ideas with other church musicians.

Here are some comments from the Cantabile 2017 workshop participants:
♪ My choir looks forward to music that I bring back from Mount Carmel.
♪ Good balance of sessions and free time. Not rushed at all which is refreshing.
♪ I appreciate the high quality of music and variety of styles and difficulty levels.

I will praise the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God all my life long. Psalm 146:2
