Woe to the shepherds who only take care of themselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock?

New Testament Verse:

I exhort the elders among you to tend the flock of God that is in your charge, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion but willingly, as God would have you do it—not for sordid gain but eagerly.

1 Peter 5:1,2

Prayer:

Thank you, loving Shepherd, for your tender care, for the many ways you pick us up and carry us to safety. I am sorry for focusing on my own needs rather than looking to the needs of others. As I go about living today, help me to live for you by caring for those you put in my life. Amen.
