Preaching Intensive
A week of concentrated study in the craft of preaching with Dr. Paul Cross, on the shore of Lake Carlos.
A full week devoted to preaching
Any active seminary student may attend free of charge, whatever seminary you call home. The Institute of Lutheran Theology has agreed to grant course credit for the intensive to any student who wants it.
Classes meet in the Mount Carmel chapel, with mornings and afternoons in session and evenings free for study, rest, and time together.
Dr. Paul Cross
Dr. Cross is a retired pastor whose doctoral work focused on the teaching of preaching. He brings decades of pulpit experience to a week of instruction, practice, and conversation about the preaching task.

Meals
- Lunch is provided Monday through Friday.
- Coffee, bread and peanut butter, and cereal are always available.
- Every cabin has a kitchen, so you can cook your other meals as you choose. The nearest grocery store is about 15 minutes from camp.
Evenings and community
- Students stay in cabins with kitchens, and we hope to offer a private cabin to every student who would like one.
- We expect informal shared meals to take shape in the evenings, alongside some structured times of community during the week.
- The lodge and its Fireside Room are open for study and conversation.
Families are welcome
Students who wish to bring their families are welcome to do so. Families stay together in our deluxe cabins with kitchens and are welcome to enjoy the camp facilities throughout the week. Family members are not included in the provided lunches, but cabin kitchens make family meals easy.
