Giving of Time

Support Mount Carmel in ways that make the most of your resources and may reduce your taxes. Many friends give through:

  1. Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) – If you are 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA to Mount Carmel. These gifts count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) but are excluded from your taxable income, often reducing your tax bill.

  2. Gifts of Appreciated Stock – Donating stock you’ve owned for over a year lets you avoid capital gains tax while receiving a charitable deduction for the full value. This means your gift stretches further for ministry.

  3. Wills and Estate Giving – Including Mount Carmel in your will or estate plan is a powerful way to continue sharing the Gospel long after your lifetime. These legacy gifts can take many forms—such as a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a gift of property or other assets. By planning ahead, you can provide for your loved ones while also investing in the future of Mount Carmel’s ministry. Estate gifts often allow donors to make a greater impact than would be possible during their lifetime, ensuring that the message of Christ’s abundant life will bless generations to come.

For details, contact [Mount Carmel’s office phone/email]. We can work with you and your advisor to make the process simple.

1. Individual Giving — Your gift—whether large or small—has an immediate impact on the ministry of Mount Carmel. One-time donations help meet urgent needs, support seasonal programming, and maintain our facilities. Monthly or quarterly gifts provide a steady, reliable income so we can plan ahead with confidence. You can give online, by mail, or in person at Mount Carmel. Every gift, no matter the size, is multiplied through God’s work here.

2. Family Giving — Many families choose to give together, making generosity part of their shared faith journey. This can be as simple as pooling resources for a special annual gift or as meaningful as establishing a named family fund to support Mount Carmel’s ministry for years to come. Involving children and grandchildren in giving decisions fosters a legacy of faith, generosity, and connection to the mission. Family gifts can also be directed to specific needs—like adopting summer staffers, providing scholarship funds, funding a project, or contributing to the endowment.

3. Endowment Contributions – Gifts to our endowment are invested for long-term growth, ensuring stable, ongoing support for Mount Carmel’s mission for generations to come.

1. Volunteering — Your time and skills are a gift to Mount Carmel’s ministry. Volunteers help in countless ways—landscaping (mulching, planting, tree trimming), hospitality (kitchen prep, dining room service, greeting guests), construction (carpentry, electrical, roofing), maintenance (cabin startup, staining, repairs), and cleaning (beach, lodge, chapel, cabins). Whether you have a few hours or a full week, there’s a place for you to serve.

Our greatest needs are from early May until Family Camp begins in late June. Special volunteer weekends—where friends gather to open cabins, clean, and prepare the grounds—have been a cherished Mount Carmel tradition for decades.

No matter your skill level—from beginners to experts—our Volunteer Coordinators will match your gifts with meaningful projects and ensure you have the tools, training, and encouragement you need.

2. Thrivent Action Teams – If you’re a Thrivent member, you can make your service at Mount Carmel go even further—at no cost to you! Thrivent members are eligible for two $250 Action Team grants each year.

Ideas for Mount Carmel Action Team projects include:
—Providing meals or snacks for a volunteer weekend.
—Buying flowers, plants, or tools for landscaping projects.
—Covering supplies for a maintenance or improvement project.

We’ll work with you to plan a project that fits your interests and meets a real need here at Mount Carmel.
