Volunteer

We love our volunteers! There are several different ways to volunteer at Mount Carmel:

Spring & Fall Events

There are two regular volunteer weeks each year, one in May and one in October, and one family volunteer weekend. These have been a Mount Carmel tradition for years. Come for a day or the entire week/weekend. Volunteers help open up non-winterized cabins in the spring, or close them down in the fall.

You can stay free of charge at Mount Carmel and enjoy great food and fellowship. There are a variety of jobs that can be done, depending on your gifts, but they often include, but not be limited to:

  • Cleaning of the cabin: dusting, vacuuming, bathrooms
  • Setting out or taking in picnic tables, chairs, grills, beach equipment
  • Painting and scraping cabins
  • Assisting maintenance staff with turning on/off water to cabins
  • Landscaping work: weeding, trimming, raking etc.

Special Projects

We also welcome volunteers during other times of the year to help with special projects—varying from mailings, to building and grounds projects, to calling friends of Mount Carmel.

Summer Volunteers

During the busy summer season we may have volunteer opportunities that help support the summer ministry. You may have abilities or skills that are a perfect fit – perhaps in the nursery, office, with technology, music and the arts, or even fishing and boating.

We will work with you to determine the best way to use your gifts. Our Summer Volunteer Coordinator will assist volunteers throughout the summer to help you have a wonderful experience.
